Case study 001 Observational study

Can a useful little Windows utility get discovered through search?

Font Size Tweak adjusts supported Windows text, such as File Explorer labels, without scaling the whole desktop. Its website and File Explorer guide address the questions people may search when that text feels too small. This study follows recorded organic acquisition and GitHub release downloads.

An observational study of separate signals, with no verified search-to-download attribution.

From principle to practice

The strategy behind the results

Get Optimized teaches a practical sequence: understand the need, answer it clearly, connect useful pages, then read the evidence. The current Font Size Tweak site shows those ideas in use; the measurements show what happened alongside them.

A conceptual research journey. The arrows describe a possible path, not a measured conversion funnel.

  1. 01

    Search intent

Start with the task behind a query. The current product page names a concrete problem: File Explorer labels can feel too small while broad display scaling changes more of the interface than the user wants.

  2. 02

    Useful content

Answer the question before asking for an action. The File Explorer guide explains Windows' built-in text setting, compares trade-offs, then gives steps for supported labels.

  3. 03

    Site structure and internal linking

Help visitors move between related answers. The current homepage FAQ links to the File Explorer guide; that guide offers a route back to the overview and onward to the download.

  4. 04

    Measurement and iteration

Read each signal on its own terms. The GA4 period aggregate records website acquisition; dated GitHub snapshots record release-asset downloads. No dated SEO change log is present to test a specific intervention.

Findings

What this study can say

What we did

The current site describes a specific Windows need, publishes a practical guide, and links related answers to the product. These are observable site decisions, not dated intervention records.

What the evidence shows

GA4 records organic acquisition to the website. Across 31 dated GitHub snapshots, cumulative release-asset downloads continue to rise.

What remains unproven

The contribution of any SEO change to traffic or downloads. There is no confirmed link from an organic website visitor to a release download.

Project context · separate from the charts

GitHub release counts and the owner-supplied GA4 aggregate cover different periods and actions. Their definitions, missing values and source records are available below.

Measurement definitions and limitations

The existing GitHub collector tracks release assets for uxillary/font-size-tweak. History begins 2026-09-10 and reaches 2026-10-10. Current totals include 9 checksum-asset downloads. Asset downloads are not unique users or verified installations.

Daily change requires the immediately previous calendar-day snapshot; the first value and any missing-date comparisons remain unavailable. Seven-day and thirty-day changes use exact calendar-date endpoints, without filling gaps.

GitHub discovery traffic can be unavailable (null) on the latest observation; its current totals are 7 stars, 0 forks and 0 subscribers. GA4's period ends 9 October; its capture timestamp was not supplied. A source observation or verification date is not this page's publication date.
